Dinotica System Requirements

Dinotica is a 2D-looking action roguelite that can still kneel a GPU when totems multiply projectiles. This page reprints Steam’s published requirements, adds Deck and crash notes from players, and tells you what to disable before you refund. It is not a benchmark lab.

Mac and Linux store fields are empty. Buy this as a Windows title.

Steam Deck

Steam lists Playable, not Verified. Patch 1.9.2 enlarged the level-enhancement interface and text; an earlier 1.6 line also bumped handheld UI. Expect extra clicks in menus, verify controller layout in the overlay, and keep a simpler totem stack for handheld thermals. Controls covers pads.

The spec sheet versus 1.0 combat

Minimum hardware can open Emerald Forest. Dark Forest, Flame Rift, and greedy relics are another story. Reviews mention crashes when dinosaur plus totem combos spawn too many particles. That is not a “you missed the recommended GTX 1060” issue alone — a 1060 can still choke if the stack is ridiculous. Unequip extra-projectile totems before you lower resolution. See Totem Builds.

If the game closes in co-op with no error, verify files, update, and avoid those same stacks. Early Access reports exist; 1.0 online is new. Patch Notes is the hotfix shelf.

Practical settings

Close overlays you do not need. Cap FPS if the town hitching bothers you more than the rift. Fullscreen exclusive can help older GPUs. There is no official ultra preset this wiki trusts; use what keeps door symbols readable.

Storage at 4 GB is tiny. Leave headroom for Steam and for screenshot dumps during Launch Weeks contests.

Before you buy

If your machine is below the 960 line, wait for a sale and a refund window rather than hoping 1.0 magically lightened. If you are at recommended spec and still crash, the party is the problem — Team Builder plus a calmer rider. If you want the fantasy without the shooter load, this is the wrong game; the Review is honest about that.

Online co-op adds a network tax on top of particles. Remote Play Together taxes the host’s upload. Local split-screen taxes the GPU twice for two cameras. Pick the mode your box can actually hold.

When Steam edits the requirements table, this page should match the store, not a screenshot from 2025. Until then, treat the 960 / 1060 pair as the official floor and ceiling, and treat particle storms as a third, unofficial spec.

Laptop users should watch thermals in Flame Rift and Dark Forest more than in the town. The settlement is light; the shooter is the load. Plug in, cap FPS, and keep a non-storm rider on the Team Builder if the chassis is thin. Handheld Dock play on Deck is closer to recommended desktop than to battery handheld — plan accordingly.

Store tags mention Family Sharing. That does not change the GPU. It also does not replace a second copy for online co-op. If you share a library, Remote Play Together may still be the calmer option for a weak guest machine. When Valve edits Deck status from Playable to Verified, this page should say so. Until then, Playable means “works with caveats,” not “set and forget.”
