Dinotica Fishing Spot

Patch 1.10.1 added a fishing station. Calm loot for evenings you will not rift — not a leather replacement.

Fishing Spot Wiki

Fishing is the quiet loop the Steam news hub bundled with Halloween. Patch 1.10.1 added a fishing station. The community post that rode with 1.10.2 called it a pond you build, a line you cast, and a source of rare fish, crafting ingredients, and surprise loot. The official film is embedded in the middle of this page. Settlement order still lives on Farm and Base. The building catalogue is Buildings.

What it is for

Hunting posts make leather. Farms make food. Workbenches chew queues. Fishing fills the evening you will not open Dark Forest or a 200-room Endless climb. It is not a skip for Getting Started. If the hatchery is unbuilt, build that first. If dinos are hungry, plant. If the hunting slot is empty, staff it. Then place the pond.

The Halloween post listed spooky decorations in the same breath: cross, jack-o’-lantern, tombstone, withered vine, ghost, pumpkin carriage. Those are cosmetics. The station is the mechanical addition. Do not spend hunting leather on a pumpkin carriage the week you still cannot fund a Casual boss.

What it is not

It is not a codes machine. Dinotica has no public redeem codes. It is not online co-op shared water — your pond sits on your save. Friends on Co-op meet at boss rooms; they do not share fish. It is not a replacement for Stat Fruit rules on story finals (those changed in the same 1.10.1 note). Check Patch Notes when a fruit table moves.

If a guide tells you fishing is the 1.0 headline, it is wrong. 1.0 is Dark Forest, nine new companions, online co-op, and Endless 200. Fishing shipped in Early Access autumn 2025 and remains in the full client. Use it. Do not organise the wiki around it.

Placement and pathing

Leave corridor space. Worker AI already gets stuck around packed farms and beds. A pond jammed against a fence becomes another idle animation. Place it where you can see the cast without covering the hunting post. Upgrade order after hatchery is still food, beds, hunting, then the station if you actually want the loop.

Seasonal Christmas kits (sleigh, stocking, tree, snowman, Evil Snowman boss) arrived in 1.10.3. They do not improve bite rate. The snowman is an optional fight, not a fishing quest.

How this page stays honest

Until a patch names every fish and every ingredient, this wiki will not invent a Pokédex of water loot. The official wording is enough: rare fish, crafting ingredients, surprise items, a peaceful activity beside survival. When a later note lists a fish by English name, it will land here in that wording.

Codex hunters chasing relic and totem unlocks should not use the pond as a substitute for rooms. Achievements tracks those gates. Maps still decides which biome drops the egg you actually need.

If the station is missing, you are on a client older than 1.10.1. Update. If it is present and workers never walk to it, pathing is the bug you can fix with a corridor. If you came here from the farm guide’s old video slot, that film belongs on this page now — one video per article, and this is the article about water.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from the current 1.0 build.

When was fishing added?

Patch 1.10.1 added the station. The Halloween community post in 1.10.2 advertised the pond loop.

Does fishing replace hunting?

No. Hunting still funds leather. Fishing is extra loot for quiet evenings.

Is fishing part of the 1.0 Dark Forest patch?

No. It shipped in Early Access and remains in 1.0. Dark Forest is Chapter 5.

Do co-op partners share the pond?

No. Ponds sit on the host save. Online parties meet at boss rooms, not at the water.
